Metal Ceramic Crowns

Metal ceramic crowns are crowns which contains metallic base material surrounded with layers of ceramic. The types in metal ceramic crowns are

  • PFM (Porcelain Fused with Metal): This type of crown contains metallic base material surrounded by moderate strength ceramic material. This is basic crown which balance aesthetics and strength.
  • DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering): Advanced type of metal ceramic crown. When compared to PFM crowns the strength of ceramic increases the wear and tear resistance. This crown has enhanced strength and shade matching is more precise than PFM crowns. With high strength ceramic the marginal edge of the crowns can be build with ceramics that eliminate black line in the margin of the crown.

Ceramic Crowns/ Metal Free Crowns

Metal free ceramic crowns look more natural and aesthetic when compare to metal ceramic crowns and completely avoid metal exposure. All ceramic crowns does not have metallic base and are completely made of ceramic material. Metal ceramic crowns reflect an opaque shade of metal that makes its appearance little dull.
